Question on a liquid I was quoted on

$

I was quoted $0.59 per gallon for 32% liquid cal. I was also quoted $0.38 for natural well brine, I have attached a MSDS report for that product.

Whats your thoughts on them? I don't know anything about the well brine. I'm looking for something to pre wet salt and use as a pre treat on lots.

Thanks

im curious on how some of you guys price out driveways. I do sealcoating so I know how to price it out that way so I figured I try it the same way with snow, get the sq ft. multiply by whatever you want to charge per sq ft. has anyone tried this method? or do most of you just look at what has to be done and give a price? im just trying to see which way ima go this winter. I don't know if my father will have me on salary or hourly or if he even needs me at all. I figured some pricing out for my lawn customers just for the heck of it and I think its in a good price range. my main customer went to school with my mom so I could ask her what she paid last year so I can get an idea. now im not in business just doing on the side, but I want to be in the range like if I was in business if that makes sense. my truck insurance is under my father, I might be paying for salt I don't know, so the main thing ill be spending money on is gas. also how do you guys price the salting if need to be applied? maybe just $10+ more depending on the size of the driveway?
thanks

01 e4od on my new diesel. About 178...,on tbe odo. Unknown history. Trying to do this on a budget. But what's a good starting place to make this a good trans that I don't have to worry about while plowing. And fyi this is my first auto plow trk in about 8 years. The company has gm so I have a good idea of them but not in the ford relm. Remember not looking for massively expensive. In the back of my head is always the stick conversion

Hi guys...just curious as to what you would charge to do this lot? Per push and/or season pricing if you would. Red is definite, blue is an add-on possibly. I gotta get the hang of bidding and this is where I start I guess :) Thanks to everyone who contributes!

I am not sure what to do here, I have what turned out to be a terrible buy my 1996 f350 with a good running 7.3, but bad frame. I was offered a straight trade for a 2003 6.0 rusty bed good drive train egr deleted truck. My 7.3 has 67~k on it the 6.0 has 102k. I know the 03 6.0 was the worst year. I already got a brand new ram with the Cummins motor so I don't need a second truck but may be a nice backup rig. I figure I can spend a couple grand and fix the bed and dented fender if it actually runs well. What would you do? The newer truck may be easier to sell in the future or use as a trade since the frame is still good down the road.

Time For New Vehicle - Which?

I work for a church and the past 5 years I have been driving a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500HD, Gas, Quad Cab, 6' bed using a 8' Fisher Minute Mount Plow. I plow a 250 space lot with a misc layout that takes about 3 hours to clear properly. I also have 3 fairly long driveways withing a 12 mile radius of our main property. Truck has 90,000 miles and I've had several repairs to the front end as recently as Feb 2014. This truck has had it! I do my best to take care of it and be gentle, but the Connecticut Winters have been pretty rough the past few years. I'm wondering if there is another vehicle that is more durable and has a heavier front end that will last longer? Does a 3500 have a beefier front end or is it just the engine and drive train? Would a mason dump be a better vehicle to use? Should I look into something outside of the main manufacturers? What is the best way to research a vehicle for plowing?

hello everyone I just bought a 2014 ram 2500 with reg cab 8ft bed first truck for me and I want to get a plow on it. I plan on plowing residential houses and small commercial lots, any advice would be great. I have 5 grand to spend but I was hoping to use half for plow and half for rims/tires but the plow is first on the list so what ever I have to spend on it is fine.. thanks in advance

im alil bored right now so I figured I post some pics of some sites we do and just wanna know what everyone else would use for equipment at these sites.

the 1st pic is my dad's contract. we did it for 2yrs before they signed a 3yr contract last summer. so what would you use for equipment? and how big of a sidewalk crew?

the 2nd pic is townhomes that have 2 sections. we subbed it off a landscaper for the past 3yrs before quitting with them this past February. we only took care of the roads, dead ends, and parking spots, as well as salting, the landscaper had his guys do the sidewalks. again what would you use for equipment?

also both sites are about 2mins apart from each other.

thanks guys

hey I couldnt remember your username so this is it. This isnt a serious plowing thread i just thought it was funny that my dad bought the plugr aerator from you last week while I was away. I knew about you from your story about being ripped off by the dealership. I mentioned it to my dad one day and as soon as you told him the story when he complimented your truck he rememberd I knew of you from plowsite. I also like how you dont shovel at all. Its a small world. Keep plowing, Nick:waving:

I apparently dont have rights to search for threads. So I am wondering is there a thread or a link that everyone uses to find other snow removal guys in their local areas looking for help? Also just short of going door to door is there a Website being used to find business looking for Landscape/ Snow removal services. I am kicking around and some of these threads about Contracts and Bidding just go on forever and really dont answer my question. Any help you could provide would be appreciated.

Plow worked fine last season put it away and ended up
Buying a wideout for that particular truck. Go to show the old Ultramount pro plow to a buyer and it just clicks and the controller (hand held) shuts off on every command except down. Hook the plow up to another truck and plow functions fine.

Swapped controllers same issue
Swapped out motor relay same issue
Checked cable for frays or cuts and didn't see anything
Greased the plugs same issue
Ran a jumper cable from the neg post on plow to neg battery post on truck same issue

All the connectors on the truck side look good and clean.
Control harness through the cab looks fine no cuts.

Where do I go next?

Well that's worrying...

Anyone have an NPR with strobes? Where did you mount the power pack? I'm struggling to find somewhere to mount one.

I've got a hideaway kit and then 8 3 led lights on it so far. Have to do duplicate truck as well. Led lights are simple just need to find a place for power pack

Wuts up guys, does anyone have these springs and the nitrocharger sport shocks installed? If so, how much lift did you get? Looking to level my 2012 Toyota Tundra DC 5.7L 4x4 and a 7'6'' Fisher SD plow. I want to get them but keep hearing how some people are getting 3.5-4'' of lift when I only want 2.5. BTW, the plow is about 500#, switched out the poly edge for steel. Let me know guys, Thanks!!!!

New Loader /w Pusher Questions

Hi Guys,

I am upgrading my snow fleet to include a loader.
Was thinking a Cat 924 or 930 - or similar machine in the 13 000 kg range.

Is this too much weight? The local Cat dealer was leaning heavily on trying to sell me the CAT It14G which is much lighter at 7700 KG, but they seem to think this unit will do the job.

The primary use of my machine will to push large runs of snow, I am leaving the detail work to the skid steers.

So with that said I was thinking maybe one of the Arctic Sectional 12 Ft or 14 Ft pushers. Do these truly cut down through the ice like they claim?

This is a multi location unit, so I am thinking if we have to location change during the day anything really bigger than a 12 Ft Pusher would become unmanageable during day traffic.

Also was interested in the Daniels plows Wing Plow, has a interesting design that fold open nice and big to really cover some area.

Any thoughts appreciated
