New to the commercial snow removal

Hi I have a 2011 cat b3 and a 2005 f250 with boss v plow. I am looking at buying a kage snow fire system 8 foot size. My question is how big of a lot could I do with a setup like that in an hour. Also what is the going rate for snow removal per hour. Please no smart ass comments as I run a successful lawn care company during the summer just trying to figure out the winter gig.

Ultramount stuck right

So I ripped apart the mount part of the plow sandblasted, powder coated , installed all new hoses and filter kit. I got it all done and tryed it out it only angled all the way right and is stuck there. I loosened the lines up by the 90s by the block and have lots of pressure on the rear line and fluid in the middle line but no pressure and front line doesn't have any. I took all the lines off moved the plow by hand and straighten the blade hocked all hoses up and hit the up bottom and blade went all the way right and is stuck there. I have never done anything on the valves on this so that's all new to me on how that all works. Any help would be great.

Residential Snow Removal

Looking for suggestions on the most efficient means of clearing residential driveways. We have about 40 along with commercial properties. Have tried trucks, snow blowers, ATV, bobcat with blade. We have to clear walks to front doors and public sidewalks. I have seen suggestions to use AG tractor and inverted snow blower, videos look like it would cover the sidewalks with another foot of snow from the driveway thus canceling any efficiency by the time you spent 40 minutes chugging through that heavy snow with a blower. Have been looking at testing out a Polaris Brutus with a PTO drive broom attachment. Anyone had luck with that. I realize no solution, other than snow blower, for walks but there has to be something maneuverable enough for the driveways that can increase speed and reduce employee fatigue. We have a lot of short but wide drives(3 car garages) so single stage snowblowers sucks if snow is heavy at all because you can't clear the center of the drive without throwing snow onto the outer perimeter and then blowing again. Most drives have some amount of slope which makes difficult for a truck and then once you get it out of drive, you have to find a place to put it without burying the public sidewalk. All of our drives are with in a 4 mile radius, so ideal machine could drive on its own without being trailered(i.e. bobcat with blade) and be able to carry the snow blowers for the walks. Taking suggestions because after last winter, I would just as soon dump all the residential. Getting difficult to keep staff willing to go out in the most brutal weather, in the middle of the night, in high winds, with sub-zero temps to clear driveways with snowblowers. Thanks for the help

I have a 2015 f350 and I'm getting an HD75 snow Dogg from a friend that has an 01 f250. Anyone know what I will need to swap the plow from his to my truck? Plow is only a year old, and I looked at it today and it's super nice. Just seeing if I will need to buy a new mount, or will the old one work for it.

Rt2 mounting question

Looking and an rt2 9'2 v- blade. I'm totally new to the boss plows, i run fisher, and have only run fisher, but this rt2 v plow is a killer deal, and now that I'm running a crew cab short bed as my truck id love a v plow. That being said I hear the rt2 mount is obsolete, however I can piece it together, individually to fit my chevy, 02 2500hd diesel. And the wiring, and controller I can get from a later truck? Correct me if I'm wrong, and if I can get a lead in the right direction that'd be awesome. Or if anyone has a mount, let me know. Thanks a lot.

I've had this crazy idea for numerous years to try and produce or have a major TV network to help. Just to let the general public know of what we go thru, during a winter. And of course I'd like to include not only commercial contractors but state road crews, all over the globe.

Free Replacement Decal offer?

Just after the season ended I got an email from Snowdogg offering a free replacement decal for the front of my plow. I filled out the form and emailed it back, I still haven't received anything?

Now - this is a free deal so I said "sure" but I'm not upset in the least as my decal is long gone and on one of my wings I still have the protective wrap that was on it from the factory (was cold when I put it together and it wouldn't peal off in one piece, so I said forget it and left it on - that was 4 seasons ago).

So no big deal, but just wondering if these were ever sent out?

4 year old 8'6" stainless vee, plow side only. What's it worth? I'd really like to upgrade from my straight blade but I don't want to overspend. Plow also has a decent cutting edge on it and a rubber deflector if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance!

I ended up pulling the trigger on a 2012 Toyota Tundra Rock Warrior Saturday and I picked it up today. It has 34,400 miles and it already has Bilstien ride height adjustable coil overs, air bags, and an electric trailer brake controller installed in it. I ordered Weather Tech digital fit floor lines for it today.I've only had the truck for a few hours now and I can all ready tell that I'm going to love it and it's exactly what I want in a truck. I can't wait to buy some accessories for it and I really can't wait to plow with it.

List of upcoming accessories:
8' Fisher HD
Head Board
Timbrens
Spray In Bed Liner
Tint Front Windows
Strobe & Spot Lights
Head Light Covers
Black Toyota Emblem

New truck, need help

Hi Western Gurus
I have an older 7'6" pro plow with unimount that I plow my driveway and neighborhood, no commerical stuff. Plow is in great shape so do not want to part with it if at all possible.
I had the plow originally mounted on a 1998 Chevy 1500 extend cab. Two years ago I changed to a 2006 Chevy 1500 extend cab. I had to buy the unimount adapter, new truck side mounts, new plow lights and truck side wiring harness. Plow worked great, no problems but I got the fever last month and bought a 2007 Chevy (new body style) Silverado quad cab. Now I need to convert the plow to the new 2007 truck. I was told by my local dealer I need the new mounts, model # 31599. That makes sense because of the new truck. But he is trying to tell me I need a new truck side wiring harness (unknown part #-cost $250) again, new plow side headlights again(unknown part #-cost $150) and this time he wants to add a new plow harness (unknown part #-cost $50) plus install at $550. All that comes to more than $1500. Before I spend that amount of cash, I want someone else to verify just exactly what I need for sure especially if they can get me in for less money than that. I knew I would need new mounts and had planned for them ($500) and expected some incidentals, but $1000 of them. Whoa.
Someone out there than can help?
Thoughts?

Skid steer for snow removal?

$
0

Hi to all. I'm new to the site and am currently researching what skid steer to buy for snow removal and salt loading. I was on another plowing forum and found an old post (2009) by Matthew Bowman who said he currently had 3 units he used. A New Holland wheeled unit and two tracked units, a ASV and a Cat. He stated that all 3 were pushing 8' box blades. He went on to say that his 2 tracked units would push snow way better than the wheeled New Holland. Now I know that most everyone on here is saying tires are better than tracks in the snow, however, he said it had something to do with the track design being different on the ASV and Cat than on any other brand. Sure enough, when I go to those manufacturers websites and look, the track tread is way different on those two brands. I would like someone in the business that runs track loaders (successfully) for snow removal to contact me so I can talk to them. When I have rented loaders in the past, I always opted for the track units because the ride was so much better and I could turn the track units w/o riding a "bucking bronco". Incidentally, 99% of my machines use will be snow related. I am a one man army, so I don't do any landscaping, (retaining walls, patio pavers or dirt work) that I would use the machine in the summer months for. I have decided to go with an 8' or 9' HLA Snow Wing for my plow choice. Whatever unit I choose will need to fit in a sea can (shipping container) as that is where I will be storing it and my salt. Thanks
